FAQs

 

Many students contact us with the same questions. For your convenience, we have included the answers to those questions in the Frequently Asked Questions section. Please review the FAQs before contacting the Fellowships Program Manager.

Question: Do I have to belong to the CFUW to be eligible to apply for CFUW Fellowships and awards?

Answer: No. All women who meet the eligibility requirements below are welcomed to apply.

 

Question: Can I apply if I am an international student studying in Canada with International Student Via status?

Answer: No. An applicant must hold Canadian Citizenship, or have “Permanent Resident” or “Protected Person” Status from the Government of Canada

 

Question: If I am a Canadian student studying or working outside  Canada, can I apply for CFUW Fellowships and Rewards?

Answer: Yes; Most CFUW Fellowships and Awards are available for  programs of study in other countries.

 

Question: Must I be enrolled in my program and place of study, or is proof of acceptance into the program adequate?

Answer: An official letter of acceptance from the institution in the proposed of study the proposed is necessary if you are not enrolled at the time of application.

 

Question: If I hold a scholarship from another funding organization, does CFUW have policy that would restrict my application for a CFUW Award?

Answer: No. There are no policies that restrict your acceptance of other awards.

 

Question: Can I apply to CFUW for a scholarship for an undergraduate degree?

Answer: The Trust has only one award for an undergraduate program degree: The CFUW Indigenous Woman’s Award. This award supports an indigenous woman studying for a first degree is selected fields, like medicine, optometry, or law.

 

Question: Can men apply for a CFUW Award?

Answer: No. The CFUW Charitable Trust Fellowship and Awards Program is an Affirmative Action program as provided for in the Constitution of Canada. Eligibility for these Fellowships and Awards is restricted to women.

 

Question: Can I ask the same two referees to support my application for more then one CFUW Fellowship or Award?

Answer: Yes.

 

Question: What is the fee for filing an application?

Answer: There is no fee; CFUW-CT has changed its policies and no longer charges a fee.
