President's Message
The AGM is over, fall is here again and Club activities are taking
off. Since September I have attended the Prairie Council, the
Atlantic Regional Council, the Ontario North Fall Gathering, and
have been a guest at a Fundraiser Fashion Show put on by the Regina
Club. Traveling around the country gives me the
opportunity to meet many of you personally and I am amazed at the
enthusiasm and energy everywhere.
What a dynamic and respected organization we all belong to! CFUW is
truly becoming a Visible Voice at both the national and
international levels. So meeting with you is also an
opportunity to share with you some of the initiatives that you are
supporting nationally and internationally.
Susan has been busy with meetings on the Hill as well as with
sending letters and briefs. It has also been very rewarding
to hear from Clubs and members that have been taking an active part
in advocacy efforts. Our combined efforts are what makes a
difference.
At the CFUW national level there are also two major initiatives
that need the participation of the clubs. This year there is an
election for CFUW National President and you are encouraged to ask
the candidates any questions you may have, and discuss it in your
clubs. Oh, and don't forget to vote!
We also have a proposal for a new governance structure which can
make us more efficient and responsive to today's world. The
proposal was presented and discussed at the AGM, and information
packages have been sent to all the RDs. Hopefully you have had the
opportunity to talk about the proposal at your gatherings.
There is also an explanation a bit further on in this issue of the
National Update. If you have any questions you can contact any of
the Task Group members.
