Benefits of
Membership
Locally
- Meet women with similar interests.
- Enjoy monthly programs and speakers covering a range of
topics
- Get involved in Interest and Study Groups.
- Contribute to your community through raising funds for
scholarships, and community based projects. (Local clubs fund and
award over $1,000,000 in their communities.)
- Discuss and promote local, national, and international issues
through developing resolutions and taking action on CFUW
policies.
Provincially
- Provincial Councils engage directly with their provincial
elected representatives.
- Become invloved with your Provincial Council and learn more
about CFUW.
- Attend and Annual Meeting of your Provincial Council and meet
women from across the province.
Nationally
- Any CFUW woman can seek nomination to the CFUW Board of
Directors.
- Board members set policies and priorities for CFUW.
- CFUW members are part of a federation of Clubs from
Newfoundland to British Columbia.
- CFUW members in their Clubs can influence public policy by
taking action locally on national issues.
- CFUW has 112 member Clubs, and close to 10,000 women graduates,
students and Associate members.
- CFUW members can serve on CFUW national committees.
- CFUW advocates, through its member clubs and at the National
level with the Government of Canada on issues of concern to
women.
- Consider attending a CFUW AGM. You will enjoy the
experience.
Internationally
- CFUW is the largest of the 79 affiliates of the International
Federation of University Women (IFUW).www.ifuw.org
- CFUW is a non-government organization with special consultative
status at the United Nations (ECOSOC).
- IFUW offers global contacts, information and influence.
- International fora for discussion
- Young Members networking group.

Club
Membership
Club Members meet like-minded women in any of the 112 member
Clubs. To find a Club in your area, click here or contact National
Office: cfuwgen@rogers.com for more information. If there is
no Club in your area National Office can help you start one or you
may consider becoming a Member-at-Large.
Membership in CFUW/FCFDU is open to:
Specifically a woman is eligible who is a resident of Canada and
who has:
- Earned a degree, diploma or equivalent qualification from an
institution of higher education, or
- Been accepted for a masters or doctoral program at a recognized
tertiary institution; or
- Earned a professional designation or qualification that
currently requires a degree, diploma or equivalent
qualification.
- Is living outside Canada, but has received a degree from a
recognized Canadian university or college; or
- Was a member of CFUW in good standing having joined under the
provisions of By-Law and who wishes to maintain her CFUW membership
although no longer resident in Canada.
Associate and Student members are welcome in all CFUW clubs. Please contact your local
Club for more information.

Member-At-Large
No time to join at Club? No Club near you? You might be
interested in joining as a Member-At-Large.
Any woman who qualifies for regular membership may become a
Member-at-Large (without voting privileges). Please click
here to apply online.
As a Member-at-Large, you can:
- Maintain or establish contact with the interests, the ideas and
the activities of our close to 10,000 women graduates and students
who belong to CFUW Clubs across Canada.
- Receive CFUW mailings
- Attend general Club meetings if time and circumstance
permit
- The CFUW Membership year runs from May 1 to April 30

Student
Membership
A woman is eligible for CFUW Student Membership if she is:
- A full-time university or college student
- Enrolled in a degree, diploma, or equivalent program that could
lead to graduate studies; and
- A resident of Canada.
A student member is entitled to all the privileges and
responsibilities of CFUW. Student members pay 50 percent of the
CFUW per capita dues.

Associate
Membership
An Associate Member is a woman who does not qualify for regular
membership, but who supports the objectives and purposes of
CFUW.
She is entitled to all the privileges and responsibilities of
membership in CFUW and she will pay full CFUW per capita dues.
