BOOK CLUB
Dear Book Club member,
I'm pleased to announce the national launch of CARE Canada's Book
Club. Virtual doors are now open! Register today to take part
in our online discussion!
Join us for our first debate on Half the Sky: Turning Oppression
into Opportunity for Women Worldwide, by Pulitzer Prize-winning
journalists Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn.
Our discussion will be lead by Teresa Chiesa, CARE Canada's
Programme Manager for Africa and healthcare specialist. Find out
why Teresa feels 'Half the Sky' is a telling tale of the lives of
women and girls in Africa and Asia. Give us your personal
perspective on this powerful book. And learn more about CARE's
experience of working with women and girls around the world.
For those of you who have not already registered with our book
club, please click here to take part in the debate. Once you've
signed-up to our terms of agreement and completed all the fields
marked with an asterisk (*), you'll then need to login here with
your username and password, which you will have just created
through our registration process.
Once you have logged in you will be able to view our book club
pages, read posts and post your own comments within minutes! Go to
our first forum called, Welcome to the CARE Canada Book Club, for
an introductory message from Teresa and then to our first
discussion point on maternal and infant mortality.
Our online discussion on 'Half the Sky' will be taking place
throughout March. More discussion points and information will be
posted on our book club bulletin board over the coming weeks-so
stay tuned!
George Clooney said, "it is impossible to stand by and do
nothing." after reading 'Half the Sky'. What will you say?
We look forward to chatting with you online!
Many thanks,
Sarah and the book club team!
P.S. Each time you want to return to the CARE Canada Book Club,
you will need to login at www.care.ca/forum. If you have any
questions about registration, login or posting comments please
email us at iampowerful@care.ca, we'd be more than happy to
help.
